The world clock

This is terrifying, but worth having a look. Click here for the world clock. It calculates, as an estimation, the events that are occurring in our world.

Humbling to see. Take a look and let the stats soak in.

The oil being pumped, c02 emissions and earth temperature rising rates are fairly scary. It's hard to fathom what that really means, as it's just numbers rising. Imagine if we could see live footage of it all happening?

Scary how much abuse the earth can take, but how close it's coming to the end of its rope.

It terrifies me! It can be hard to transfer numbers into physical reality, I reckon we see that all the time with poverty (30,000 kids dying from preventable diseases). Sometimes the numbers are so unfathomable that we can say "oh well, I don't see any damage happening and it doesn't effect me so I don't care". That may sound tough, but I just get that feeling sometimes.

It helps me to reconsider my own personal impact upon the globe, walking places, riding my bike, getting public transport, turning off unused lights ect. These are only small things, but if EVERYONE did it then the impact would be fantastic. For me, the little things can make a world of difference to my own reality which can influence my networks, and, in pay-it-forward-style, we can affect so many more lives.
